How Can I Beat Insomnia Caused By Stress?

I’m 16.
I’ve been very stressed the past couple of days due to some issues with my boyfriend. And every time I go to sleep all I can do is Lay in bed and think about him. I get very sad thinking about it, and I try not to think about it and to think of happy things, but no matter what I always end up feeling sad and not being able to sleep. It usually takes me about two hours of tossing and turning before I fall asleep. And I usually end up sleeping in later than I want to, which doesn’t help.
I could really use some help with this, because I really need to get back to a good sleeping schedule before school starts up again.
Thanks a ton

simply move on get something in your routine before you go to bed like work out or some thing that makes you happy and most of all dont let every day things get in the way of you being able to function it is all about what is better for you not what someone has done or doing just relax and enjoy something you like see a movie go out with your friends and just try to relax school can be more than enought stress than most people want any way so keep cool

for starters- try walking briskly in the early evening- this will benefit you enormously. the exercise is good, it will help make you physically tired, and it releases endorphins which will help you feel better. believe it or not turkey and warm milk both contain enzymes which aid a body to sleep better, and finally, try meditating or reading- no tv!!- before turning out the light. good luck!!

Your current stress will lessen with time. To get to sleep until then, you need to find a way to relax your body and your mind.
Physical relaxation exercises can assist you, as can your environment. By putting music on in very low volume as a background sound that can help your mind to not churn on your problems. Reading, something meaningful, or something lighthearted like poetry can give your mind something to think on. Sucking on hard candy can give your taste sensations something to soothe you and assist your mood. Think of each of your senses, try to address most of your senses in a way that will help your body and your mind to relax. Nighty Night!

I reckon guys cause about 99% of sleepless nights.lol.
But seriously I understand how you feel. I have fibromyalgia, and this often prevents me for getting decent sleep, so I get more sick and then sleep even worse….you get the picture.
I have just started taking a herbal insomnia formular by Nature’s Own ( I live in Australia, not sure if this is available overseas). It contains Valerian, Humumlus lupulus (hops), pasionflower, chamomile, calcium hydrogen phosphate, and magnesium. It knocks me out like a light and I wake up feeling great.
If you cant get a formular like this try just the Valerian (its a herb) and the magnesium.
Also have a glass of milk before bed, plain milk or try hot chocolate. Milk contains L-tryptophan, an amino acid that helps you sleep.
Try putting on a favorite CD very quietly, just before you go to sleep.
Well I sure hope this helps coz not sleeping is no fun! Good luck

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information at

Reading always puts me to sleep. Might be worth a try.
Also, exercise helps relieve stress and ups ones mood and most sleep better.
Keep active throughout the day. Go help at a charity, like a thrift store, cleaning and stocking or whatever. Or, get a job at a cafe or some place that will hire a16 year old.
Now, having been 16 myself a long time ago. I recall the same feelings you are having. IT GOES AWAY. EVERY TIME. No guy is worth your tears. No guy is worth loosing sleep over. You will look back one day and realize you made yourself miserable for nothing. What a waste.
    Come on, get happy.
