Natural sleep aids
I am currently on Ambien to help me fall asleep at night but recently changed doctors and she will not give me a new prescription for it. I have a very hard time falling asleep at night without it and would like to know what, if any, natural ways there are to help you fall asleep at night.
your lucky you even got ambien! my doctor won’t give me crap! i drink hot tea called “sleepy time” tea, i take a calcium pill before bed, i try valerium capsles (sorry i don’t know the spelling) and i’ll not drink caffeine after 12 noon ( i go to bed around 10) i still struggle at times but there’s nothing else i can do, taking tylenol pm or something like that makes me feel like i have the worst hangover the next morning so that never works
Chamomile tea. Warm milk. Reading. Meditation. Cut your caffeine intake, especially 3 hours before bed time. Melatonin supplements, unless you are pregnant or allergic to poultry.
Try doing some tiring cardio workouts, like running a couple of miles, every evening. Also, a hot shower might help make you feel sleepier. I find that it relaxes my muscles and it’s always nice to crawl under some clean sheets after showering. Hope these things help and sweet dreams!
Tell your husband to make a move on you before bed so you can get really tired really fast. Works like a charm!!!!!!!
1. Try to make your day “busy”, so at the end of the day you will very tired and when you find a pillow you will fall asleep soon
2. Try a relaxation before sleep : listen music, read a book

I know when people lay down and they have a TV in their room they watch it till they fall asleep. Its been proved that if you don’t watch TV when you lay down you will fall asleep faster. The problem people have falling asleep is they don’t turn everything off and just relax. No lights, no music, no TV. Just you and the dark. Try it it works. You’ll be out in no time.
there are chemicals in turkey and in milk that can make people sleepy. but im not sure how much it takes. they do sell non-presciption sleep pills in drug stores.
I haven’t personally tried these, because I don’t have this problem, but I have a book on natural healing that I have used for other things and has helped. The following suggestions are quoted from it almost word for word.
Aromatherapy: Add 6-8 drops lavender, marjoram, or ylang-ylang essential oils to your bathwater before going to bed. Or put 4 drops lavender, marjoram, rum, or chamomile essential oil on your pillow before going to sleep
Acupressure : Use the index and ring fingers of one hand to apply pressure to the indentation on the back of the head at the base of the skull for several minutes. An alternative method is to apply pressure to the fleshy pad of skin at the base of either thumb, switching hands as you feel is needed The first one is supposed to help release fears that are keeping you awake and the second stimulates the point that is supposed to quiet the mind.
Herbal therapy: Try herbal sleep formulas, — teas, tinctures, and capsules — available at health food stores or online. For best results, choose one that contains hops, valerian, chamomile, oats, passionflower, and balm.
Hydrotherapy — Cold water “treading”. Fill the tub with enought water to cover your ankles and march in place for 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
Sound therapy : Listen to relaxing musive before bed.
Vitamin Therapy : Get plenty of calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B.
